Hello again dear reader,

Recently this writer and a friend were discussing the expectations put on people in the work environment.

The friend suggested that because everyone works differently there are just some people who will do more and those who wish to do less shouldn’t be judged negatively for it.

This writer pointed out that there will always be someone willing to do more and those who are doing less need to stop complaining, step up, or step out of the way.

Recently, analysts at University of Chicago sifted through Uber data, hoping to find an answer to the pay gap that still (still!) exists between women and men.

They found that men still make more women drivers? But how in a completely gender blind system is this possible!?

There were several factors: men drive more, men take short cuts, men drive in less popular areas, and men drive faster.

So it would seem that the need to follow the crowd and the rules are holding women back. This writer is certainly surprised by those findings. No, no this writer is not surprised at all.

Because, ladies, it is just this, following the rules and sticking to the beaten path that is holding us back. So take short cuts, get lost, find new ways to get there.

But most importantly put your foot down. Stamp it down hard. And decide that you are going to drive as fast as the men. Because otherwise they will leave you in the dust.
