Hello Dear Reader,

This writer has spent the morning ogling at the recent royal wedding events. The surprising marriage of Miss Elizabeth Bowles-Lyon and Prince Albert, Duke of York has been plastered over every newspaper for weeks and will certainly be the subject of newsreels for months to come.

The bride will debut an elegantly simple ivory chiffon moiré dress and will (daringly!) walk down the aisle with her face uncovered! Perhaps in keeping with the freeing standards of the times (it is rumored that the bride refused the Prince TWICE before accepting his proposal and then swapped her engagement ring for one she preferred) this lack of veil is a nod to her obvious self-ownership and confidence!

Later this century, dear reader, you can look forward to the nuptials of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. Lady Diana will make her entrance in a crinoline gown boasting 10,000 pearls and antique Carrickmacross lace. The gown will also feature a twenty-five foot train and long veil. This writer posits that this dress was meant to symbolize Diana’s purity in the face of overwhelming freedom of the decade in which she was married.

Finally, my wedding frantic readers, you can look forward to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Ms Markle (who will now be known as the Duchess of Sussex) will appear at Windsor in a white, matte silk dress with a (hold onto your hats dear readers!) 5meter long veil made of lace representing the flora of each Commonwealth country. While the previous dresses seemed to fit with the times of their wearers, this writer finds some irony in the dress of Ms Markle.

While readers may be able to guess the source of the discord, this writer will remain mum on the subject.
