This writer is writing to call for the return of a special woman. She needs to return to save her sisters. To fight off the people who are trying to steal the rights of women all over the world.

This writer calls for the return of the Onna-bugeisha. These women were trained along side the Samurai and fought in battle beside their male counterparts.

These warrior women were trained to protect their honor and territory in the absence of men or to take the place of men who were unable to fight.

One particularly famous and vicious Onna-bugeisha, Tomoe Gozen, rode into battle and unhorsed, pinned, and decapitated the enemy’s strongest warrior.

This writer suggests that instead of idolizing Wonder Woman or other characters let us look back to women that actually existed. Women who fought for what they believed in and died to protect themselves and the men around them. Women who were not clad in copper bikinis but in the same armor as the men who fought beside them.

These are the idols we need right now. This is the spirit that women need to embody when fighting for our rights in an increasingly masculine world. These are the women whose spirits will push us forward to defend our right to control our own bodies.

So, dear reader, this writer implores you to put aside the images of soft, delicate women that plague media. And embody the Onna-bugeisha. Step up next to your male counterparts and fight for your right to be heard, seen, and in control.
